Knob State Forest Campground US 2 and Big Knob Road Lake Superior State Forest Naubinway, MI 49762 Phone: (906)635-5281 Links: Provides 23 rustic sites, swimming, Lake Michigan beach, sand dunes. Wind and water from the lake are constantly sculpting and changing this sandy habitat. Stay at the campground or come for a day hike on the Big Knob/Crow Lake Pathway. Trailhead for Marsh Lake Pathway also here. Common sightings are ducks and geese. Common loons and bald eagles may also be seen from spring to fall. The sand dune habitat is home to many rare and unique species, including the Huron tansy, Houghton's goldenrod, pitcher thistle and dwarf lake iris. Please do not pick or disturb any of the plants. |
| Island Point State Forest Hwy US-2 East P O Box 287 Naubinway, MI 49762 Phone: (906) 477-6048 Links: Indian Lake State Park is located on Indian Lake, the fourth largest inland lake in the Upper Peninsula with an area of 8,400 acres. It is six miles long and three miles wide. The lake was once called M'O'Nistique Lake. According to 1850 surveyor records, Native Americans lived in log cabins near the outlet of the lake. The park provides swimming, in clean shallow waters, fishing, with perch, walleye, rock bass, just a few of the fish you'll catch in the lake. A variety of hiking opportunities are also available throughout the park. One section being ADA accessible. The lake has a maximum depth of 18 feet, which is best suited for smaller boats. A metal detecting area is also designated in the park. |

Good fishing for northern pike and perch in Garnet Lake. Close to motorcycle trail access. Managed in partnership with Hudson Township.
