River Campground Old Mackinac Trail (H-63) Hiawatha National Forest Saint Ignace, MI 49781 Phone: (906)643-7900 There are 44 sites, all wooded and shaded from the hot summer sun. Each site has a table and a fire ring. Water pumps and vault toilets are conveniently spaced throughout the campground. The Carp River Campground is located 8 miles north of St. Ignace off the Mackinac Trail (H-63). It is in a quiet, rustic setting adjacent to the Carp Wild & Scenic River and is a great place to enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, canoeing, kayaking, or to just "get away from it all." Open May 15 to October 3. |

Michigan Campground 1798 West US-2 Hiawatha National Forest Saint Ignace, MI 49781 Phone: (906)643-7900 There are 35 campsites, cold running water and some flush toilets as well as vault toilets. Many sites are excellent tent sites, located between dunes 20 to 30 feet high. Other sites are suitable for trailers and other recreational vehicles. Two spaces are specially located for the handicapped. The Lake Michigan Campground is located approximately 18 miles west of St. Ignace, between US-2 and the Lake Michigan shoreline. Dunes, waves, sand and wind, are the primary environmental factors present here. The view of the lake is spectacular. Excellent trails in the area. The Sand Dunes Cross-Country Ski Trail is an excellent system of trail loops for hiking in the summer. Depending on your time and inclination, you may hike from 1.5 to 6.2 miles without retracing steps. There are no lifeguards. Swimming is at your own risk. Open May 15 to October 3. |

The Soo Locks and Tahquamenon Falls are just 1 hour away and thee Father Marquette Memorial is located in the Straits State Park. |
