Marquette Maritime Museum and Lighthouse

the maritime history of the Lake Superior region from the earliest days of
the Jesuit Priest Father Jacques Marquette, French Voyaguers of the Fur Trading
Industry, the establishment of
Marquette is the primary port for the Iron Mining Rush in the Mid-1850’s
through today.
See the Lens of the Stannard Rock Lighthouse, visit the Marquette Lighthouse, see the world’s first outboard motor built by Ralph Evinrude here in Marquette, early sailing vessels, the Marquette Life Saving Station which was the forerunner to our Coast Guard today.
From the World War II era visit a Memorial built for Captain Charles McClintock who led the primary U.S. Submarine attack on the Japanese Navy at the Battle of the Leyte Gulf in the Philippines.
